Cosmelan 2 contains a unique combination of powerful active ingredients that target pigmentation. This helps to fade dark spots, freckles and improve uneven skin texture.

Kojic acid is made from several different types of fungi.  It is also a byproduct when certain foods ferment, including Japanese sake, soy sauce, and rice wine. Kojic acid inhibits the so called enzyme “tyrosinase”.  This is the main enzyme that produces melanin, the brownish skin pigment that causes age spots and freckles.

When you apply kojic acid regularly, you will produce less melanin, and as a result it will fade dark spots, freckles and uneven pigmentation.

Azeloglicina is derived from azelaic acid, a natural material produced by a yeast that lives on normal skin. The name of the yeast is Malassezia furfur (also known as Pityrosporum ovale). It is a powerful ingredient that improves uneven skin tone and dark spots.

This is because it prevents melanin production which is the brownish pigment in our skin. Due to that, it significantly improves skin brightness. Along its high whitening properties, it also improves the appearance of oily skin and is a moisturiser

Vitamins

Tocopherol (Vitamin E) is an antioxidant, and helps protect your skin from harmful environmental factors, such as pollution and sun rays. It also helps skin to produce more collagen. This keeps your skin smooth and bouncy. Vitamin E also helps lock in moisture and keep all skin types happy and hydrated – even dry skin.

Ascorbic acid is the pure and most potent form of Vitamin C. It is is the powerhouse of skin care ingredients and has got strong brightening and anti ageing properties.

Retinyl palmitate is a fat soluble form of Vitamin A (retinoid) that is naturally found in meat, fish oil and eggs. It is slightly less active compared to pure retinol but does not cause irritation or redness of the skin. When you apply it to your skin, it penetrates into the deeper layers because it is fat soluble. This means that it can rehydrate skin from deep within.

Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant that increases the number of cells in your skin.  On top of that, it stimulates collagen production.  For that reason, retinoids are widely used to treat ageing signs, acne and uneven skin texture.

2% Salicylic Acid is classified as a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) , a peel that is commonly used in skincare products. Unlike AHAs (mild peels), BHAs can get deeper into the pores to remove dead skin cells and excess sebum, ideal for acne but also treats fine lines and wrinkle, pigmentation and age spots.
